Vintage Modern French
Style MixÂ
Thank you for taking the quiz! I think we can agree that quizzes are fun, right? However, as a designer I have learned that most people can not be put in an exact “style box”. I love working with clients to dive deep and figure out all the little things that add up to create their unique style. So, maybe the style results below are totally you but chances are you like some of it but maybe not all of it. My goal as a designer is to sort through all your options and create a look that feels just like you!
If Vintage Modern French is your style mix: Your style has a touch of elegance to it but by adding in modern pieces the look does not go too feminine or too formal. You tend to like most things French and touches of European charm. Artwork may be vintage looking or more stylized with modern references to the French art of Matisse and Picasso. You like that your home is a backdrop for how you like to dress and entertain: stylishly with ease. You want your home to feel romantic and cozy but still approachable for your family and friends. In the winter, a fireplace is where you gather and in the summer, dinner is often eaten under the pergola on the patio. When you entertain, you love to have a touch of european vibe. So good wine, champagne and a charcuterie board with breads, a variety of cheese, fruit, cut meats and other little nibbles is out for all to enjoy. In the living room, a tufted sofa and wood framed chairs contrasted with sleek pieces or clean lined upholstery mixed with ornate iron accents create an inviting seating area. The architecture of the rooms adds tons to this look, so having ceiling beams or crown molding, wood floors, a stone fireplace are all a plus. Wood floors can be light or dark but definitely classy and not anything that is too trendy. Fabrics are high quality velvets, leathers and natural fibers like linen and cotton. Patterns include leopard print, damask and ticking. Most rooms will have chandeliers that make a expressive design statement and wall lights that cast a warm glow. Canopy beds are popular for this style mix and often have either curved lines or drapery to give a sense of romance. It’s all about the balanced mix of modern and vintage so that the room has an updated fresh look. You love that the look of your home makes you feel like you are staying in a fine European hotel or countryside retreat. Your home is an expression of your innate personal style!
